Easy care for your leather belt

Genuine leather develops character over time. A few gentle habits can help preserve the belt's appearance and comfort.

Gentle cleaning, drying and storage of a leather belt
Three essentials: gentle cleaning, natural drying and proper storage.

Everyday care in four steps

1

Dust it with a dry cloth

After wearing, wipe the belt with a soft, dry cotton cloth to remove dust and surface dirt before it settles into the leather.

2

Be gentle with marks

Blot the mark carefully with a clean, slightly damp cloth. Do not scrub, and test any method on a less visible area first.

3

Let it air dry

If it gets wet, wipe it and leave it to dry at room temperature. Radiators, hair dryers and direct sun can dry out or warp leather.

4

Store it loosely

Hang it by the buckle or roll it loosely. Avoid sharp folds and leaving it for long periods in a damp, closed space.

Use conditioners and cleaners carefully

Avoid alcohol, solvents, household cleaners, abrasive pads and soaking the leather. Before using a conditioner, check that it suits the leather type and finish; some products can darken or add shine. Test on a hidden spot and follow the product instructions.

Please note: coated, dyed and specialty finishes can react differently. If unsure, use a dry cloth and check the product description.

Help your belt keep its shape

  • Rotate belts when possible to give the leather time to air between wears.
  • Hang it by its buckle or roll it in a wide loop.
  • Clean the buckle with a soft cloth and keep metal polish away from the leather.
